About the action
Booking.com has become the dominant gatekeeper for hotels in Europe. With more than 65% market share in many countries, most hotels cannot afford to be absent from Booking.com, because it is the main way guests discover and book rooms online. For more than 15 years, Booking has engaged in anticompetitive practices that harmed hotels revenues. Competition authorities across Europe -- from France, Italy, Germany, Austria, and the EU level -- have already examined Booking.com's practices. Courts have repeatedly concluded that these rules harmed hotels, limited consumer choice, and inflated prices.
